Vaporesso Vibe SE tested in both Eco and Power modes
One slider, two modes and no screen. The Vaporesso Vibe SE is built as a pod you can adjust without having to understand it. The catch is that this slider changes power and draw at the same time, and therefore battery life as much as flavour. There is no way to know what it really costs without timing both positions separately.
Vaporesso Vibe SE score, 7 out of 10
The Vibe SE finishes on 7 out of 10. The five bench criteria split as handling 8, flavour 7, leak resistance 7, battery life 7 and value 6, and the average of those marks gives the overall score.
There is no disaster here, and no showpiece either. The pod does what is asked of it correctly, but each of its qualities comes with a visible trade-off in use, and that is what keeps it below the 8 mark.
The protocol applied to a two-mode pod
A device offering two operating regimes has to be measured twice. The bench therefore ran the full sequence two times over, with a new pod and a run-in coil for each mode.
Timed charging
The device starts from empty on a single charger and runs until the current genuinely stops, not until the diode goes out. We draw an order of magnitude for everyday use from it, not a published charging curve.
The official Vaporesso specification lists a 1100 mAh battery, Type-C charging at 5 V and 1 A, an Eco mode at 12 W on 1.0 Ω and 14 W on 0.8 Ω, and a Power mode at 20 W on 0.7 Ω and 24 W on 0.6 Ω.
The same sheet gives a 4.5 ml pod reduced to 2 ml in the TPD version, and a body of 115.9 x 26.6 x 17.6 mm weighing 50 g.
One caveat applies to that sheet. The 0.7 and 1.0 Ω pods are not distributed in France, so our bench ran Power mode at 0.6 Ω and Eco mode at 0.8 Ω.
Puffs counted per mode
Each mode is vaped until the device cuts out, in series of ten two-second puffs. The count serves to place one mode against the other, without our drawing a numerical gap from it, because a vaper’s rhythm varies too much from one series to the next.
Leak check
Two days in a pocket, full pod, alternating positions. The points watched are the magnetic seat, the base of the pod and the mouthpiece, which is particularly exposed on an auto-draw pod.
Vaporesso Vibe SE in Eco and Power, what the slider costs
Here is the information product listings never give, and it is the heart of this test. Switching to Power mode is not paid for in watts alone, it is paid for in charge cycles.
On the bench, Eco mode lasts a full day of regular vaping on one charge. Power mode, on the same liquid and at the same rhythm, never managed it and consistently forced a spell on the cable during the afternoon.
We publish no numerical gap, but the finding repeated with every series. That alone gives you a reference for choosing your setting in the morning.
The slider acts on the air opening and the power simultaneously, with no intermediate position. That coupling is the real design choice of the Vaporesso Vibe SE. It simplifies use and rules out any fine tuning, a tight draw at high power for instance.
Flavour from the coils in European versions
The point to know before comparing this pod with an imported model is that the versions distributed in the European Union come with 0.6 and 0.8 Ω coils, while international versions go up to 1.0 Ω. The two modes therefore do not cover the same ranges depending on where the device was bought.
In Eco mode at 0.8 Ω, the flavour is clean on fruit profiles and a little flat on tobacco blends, with a comfortable mouth-to-lung draw. It is the most versatile configuration and the least thirsty for liquid.
In Power mode at 0.6 Ω, vapour volume rises and the heat makes itself felt at the end of a long series. Flavour gains intensity rather than precision, and the 7 on this criterion reflects exactly that, a correct result that never quite stands out.
Handling, filling and leaks
A pod is judged in the pocket, in the hand and at the refilling table. The bench looks at format, weight, the firmness of the magnetic seat and how well the liquid holds after transport.
At 50 g and under 12 cm long, the format is balanced and the device does not bulge in a pocket. Filling goes through a side port, a quick gesture but hard to read once the pod is half full, for lack of a clear visual marker.
On sealing the verdict is average. Nothing reached the magnetic seat after two days, but a few drops came up into the mouthpiece after a long spell lying flat, a phenomenon amplified in Power mode. The mark stays at 7 for that reason, where the Geekvape Z Nano 2 in our tank review lets nothing through.
Value, the weakest criterion
The pods are sold with their coil built in, so there is no way to replace only the worn part. In daily use that way of consuming costs noticeably more than a system with separate coils, and it is what earns the Vibe SE its 6 here.
Capacity weighs on running costs as well. The international 4.5 ml pod becomes 2 ml in the TPD version, and 2 ml is also the ceiling the TRPR sets for cartridges in the UK, so refills come round often.
One last element belongs on the scales. The brand already markets a second generation of this pod, and on a market where pods can vanish from shelves a few months after a model is replaced, the future availability of consumables deserves checking before you commit.
Frequently asked questions
Five recurring questions, on points deliberately left outside the protocol.
Does the Vibe SE work without pressing a button?
Yes, it fires when you inhale. There is no fire button anywhere on the body of the device.
Can I vape while it charges?
The device supports passthrough, but the power delivered is reduced while the cable is connected. The result is not representative of normal use.
Are pods from other models in the series compatible?
The range shares some of its pods, but not every reference. Check compatibility by the pod number printed on the box, never by the series name.
What does the colour of the diode mean?
The diode shows three bands of remaining charge, with no numerical value. It works as a rough guide, not as a precise indicator.
How can I limit liquid rising into the mouthpiece?
Storing the device upright and avoiding very long inhales in Power mode is enough to reduce the phenomenon seen on the bench noticeably.
What the bench keeps from the Vaporesso Vibe SE
The Vaporesso Vibe SE is a simple pod scored 7 out of 10, and the main finding of this test is the real cost of Power mode, a clearly shorter battery life for a limited gain in flavour. In Eco mode at 0.8 Ω, it becomes an honest everyday device.
Readers who want to choose power and draw separately should look towards the mods and tanks measured in our other sections. The same protocol runs there, so their scores compare with the Vaporesso Vibe SE without any conversion.
